Niklas Blomberg
Niklas Blomberg is the Director of ELIXIR, the ESFRI research infrastructure for bioinformatics and life-science data (www.elixir-europe.org). ELIXIR connects services and research institutions from its 23 European members to enable scientists to access and analyse life science data. Niklas joined ELIXIR in 2013 as the founding Director. Prior to ELIXIR he worked for AstraZeneca in various roles, including leading the global cheminformatics unit. Niklas did his PhD in Protein NMR and bioinformatics at EMBL Heidelberg (DE). Niklas is strongly committed to the collaboration between research infrastructures and developing user-driven solutions that link transnational access to research facilities with robust data management and played an active role in forming the life science RI cluster. He is the coordinator of a number of research infrastructure, EOSC and Science cluster projects: CORBEL (2015-2020), ELIXIR-EXCELERATE (2015-2019), ELIXIR-CONVERGE (2020-2023), EOSC-Life (2019-2023), and BY-COVID (2021-2024).
