Kathrin Winkler

Kathrin Winkler studied chemistry at the Universities of Göttingen and Santa Barbara and received her doctorate in 2003 in the field of physical chemistry at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen. She worked for several years in biophysical research at the Freie Universität Berlin before joining the German Research Foundation in 2008. As programme director, she was responsible for all DFG programmes related to physical chemistry and for coordinating the European network ERA-Chemistry. From 2015 to 2020, she headed the DFG Latin America Office in São Paulo, which is part of the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH). During this time, she was responsible for international research collaborations with all Latin American countries. After returning to the DFG Head Office in Bonn, she moved to the Scientific Library Services and Information Systems Group at DFG, where she is responsible for the Scientific Information Services programme and for various European
memberships and activities in this area, such as the EOSC.
