Introduction to GDPR and data protection: How to legally process and protect personal data in real life
About the session
This session will give a general overview of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and aims at providing participants with a basic knowledge and awareness of this regulation. The most important GDPR Articles will be discussed, including what qualifies as personal data, the principles of data processing, and requirements for data controllers and processors, with references to real life examples. The session is open to everyone, we will however include some EOSC Future project-specific aspects at the end.
Relevance for EOSC
GDPR has been implemented as a legal instrument to ensure the protection of the personal data and privacy of EU citizens. Organisations and others dealing with personal data from European citizens or residents need to comply with GDPR.
